With an eye to preserving the heritage of their premises, the Constitutional Council wished to restore the parquet floor, which was in a state of advanced degradation.
This restoration work required an inventory of all parquet areas, the numbering of each individual piece, and the replacement of broken or missing pieces.
This marquetry parquet floor dates from the original construction of the building. It is composed of three types of wood: the squares are made of walnut, the crosspieces are in limewood, and the fillets and cabochons are in dyed mahogany. The positioning of each piece creates an exceptional relief effect by the creation of a perspective towards the window light.
In addition to its workshops in Poitou-Charentes and Paris, Asselin opened in 2009 in Thouars, a new workshop dedicated and equipped for traditional carpentry and timber frame construction.
